JESUSLOVES ME |
We learn as youngsters the song “Yes, Jesus Loves Me”. And we continue the song with, “Yes, Jesus Loves Me; the Bible tells me so”. (I hear you singing it.)
But through our years of sin, guilt, and shame, we may question the validity of that song and its relevance to our own lives. We wonder how the God of the universe, the creator of all things beautiful, could still love me. My friend, the awe of our God is, HE DOES!
At times, He has shown me His love in the most gracious and generous ways that can neither be defined nor forgotten. His mercy and grace are undeniable!
Joyce Meyer explains it in a footnote of The Everyday Life Bible, and I quote: “Do you ever wonder how much God really loves you? Zephaniah 3:17, in Hebrew, gives us the image that God literally ‘spins around’ with joy over you and that He sings and shouts over you with joy! God has not only saved you from His wrath through Jesus, but He delights in you! Thank God for His great love for you and ask Him to help you fully understand the depths of His love for you.”
Romans 8:38-39 – 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
God forgives and casts out the enemies of our soul, which include shame, blame, and disgrace. Accept it freely.
Zephaniah 3:19 – “…I will turn their shame into praise…”
Now that should make you shout and give Him praise!
Yet there is more! God not only forgives us, He forgets our transgressions!
Hebrews 8:12 – For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”
And just in case we misunderstood, He repeats it and adds additional benefits.
Hebrews 10:16-18 – 16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” 17 then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” 18 Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.
Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf. Freely He gave, freely we receive. It is a choice, my dear friend.
Matthew 18:2-4, Amplified Bible
2 He called a little child and set him before them, 3 and said, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless you repent [that is, change your inner self—your old way of thinking, live changed lives] and become like children [trusting, humble, and forgiving], you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
